Yamaichi Special Steel offers a wide variety of tool steels for mold applications, with extensive options in both types and dimensions.
About 90% of tool steels are used for molds in automotive parts manufacturing. These include cold work tool steel “SLD,” ideal for dies and punches due to its high wear resistance at room temperature; hot work tool steel “DAC,” combining hot strength and toughness for die casting and hot forging; high-speed tool steels “YXM” and “YXR,” originally developed for cutting tools; and plastic mold steel “HPM,” which excels in polishability, machinability, and corrosion resistance.
Our strength lies in the ability to recommend the right material from a large inventory based on customer specifications. By minimizing the number of cuts per steel grade to just one, we achieve higher yield for ourselves and shorter lead times for our customers.
